Modern Family vs. Leave it to Beaver

Homosexuality is a touchy subject for a vast majority of Americans. Fifty years ago homosexuality was accepting my little to none of the population now, but now it is becoming more socially acceptable. Television shows how over the years people have become more tolerant of homosexuality. The episode of Modern Family compared to Leave it to Beaver shows how the American society has become more accepting of homosexuality.
In Leave it to Beaver the viewer sees Wally struggling to talk to a girl who obviously likes him. I have no idea if Wally is supposed to gay or not, but the way Wally talks to this girl shows how uncomfortable females make him. Wally seems to be struggling with his sexual orientation, but this could not ever be said on TV. Viewers of Leave it to Beaver would definitely not accept watching a gay young boy therefore the creator of Leave it to Beaver never says what Wally’s sexuality is, but the creator does show Wally’s inability to talk to girls which hints at the fact he may be gay. On the contrary, Modern Family almost boasts that two of its main characters are gay. The gay couple in Modern Family is the stereotypical gay couple. One of the guys is very flamboyant, which is something that shows in the past could never do. The gay couple in Modern Family actually uses their homosexuality to their advantage to get their daughter into a good school. Modern Family shows that being a part of the minority sometimes has advantages, whereas in Leave it to Beaver it would never be revealed if a character was gay. These two shows show how American’s feelings towards homosexuals have changed drastically over the past several centuries.
Not sure if I did this right, I’m kind of confused.

Going back and looking through my first essay showed me a lot. I learned that my grammar is terrible, especially with commas (I may be mis-using the comma in this sentence). I think I add way too many commas when writing. When writing I think of how I would speak which involves a lot of pauses, but I guess in writing all those commas aren't needed. The Hacker book is really good, it talks about everything.
